Day 5 - Describe an object that matters to you, without saying why.

It's made of a stack of paper, usually in the size of b5 or a5 - the size I usually like to get. The papers get binded so that they stick together and it prevents the paper being scattered when being carried. The bind usually comes with different types. Well, I'm not familiar with the name of the binders, but one of the type is called ring binders.  I personally find comfort in using the ring binded notebook because I am able to flip the page fully, which gives me plenty of space to write or doodle, but the downside is that the holes in the papers usually comes out of the ring. Worst of all, the back pages are usually the first to tear off. For the cover and back cover, there are two types. Soft cover and hard cover. I like to have it soft cover because it is lightweight and I can bend it for whatever reason that I want. Many types of lamination is provided for the soft cover. I can only recall dove and matte, but I'm pretty sure they have over 5 kinds of it. As for hard co...

Day 4 - Explain why something is harder than it looks.

Most of the time, something is harder than it looks because we never try to experience it first hand. When we look at how something is done, we can only evaluate that through our own eyes. However, most of the time, doing something requires the coordination of not only our eyes, but our whole body, mind, and mentality.  For example, running for 10 km. When we see people running, it probably looks doable to us. But unless we don't try to run 10 for km, we won't feel our body temperature soar, making our bodies full of sweat. we won't feel the thirst due to the sweat escaping from our body, we won't feel our legs being heavy and tired from running.  Can we even run for 10kms? For those who don't usually run, it might be impossible to run 10 km. They would just give up in the first 5 km, 3 km, or 1 km. Why? Because their body and their mind aren't used to running. Running at such length will send alarm to their body that its doing something never been done before a...

Day 3 - Write about something you once misunderstood.

I once hated politics. It's something that I would avoid as best as I can.  It's rotten. It's full of lies and fake personalities. "I would never touch or go near politics," I said.  That's at least what I believed until I reached 25 years old.  My only exposure to politics were the political news I read or watch, involving the legislative, executive, and judicial branches that made the overall government of Indonesia. And it's all bad news.  "Politics are just dirty. I would never bear to stand next to it." Well. Little did I know that it holds a supreme power that control all aspect of our lives.  I only just recently realized that politics can't be seperated from our lives.  The environment where we grow up - it's all shaped by politics and poltical decision.  My educational background, my economic conditions, and my daily habits, as well as my health conditions are all shaped by politics.  You see, I have a huge value that I believe. ...

Day 2 - Write about a place you pass often but never notice.

Technically writing from this promt is impossible because - how would I write about a place I never notice? I wouldn't know it.  Anyways, instead, I'll write about a place I just recently noticed. It's a beauty bar.  Actually, the term beauty bar is new to me. I know regular bar and sushi bar. But it hasn't been a year since I internalized that there's a place called "beauty bar". You see, I don't go to beauty salon that much. I just went to one early this year after probably more than 10 years. I don't go to beauty salons because I thought they just offer the service of hair cut which I can do that myself at home. I used to think I don't need to look great with my haircut because I wear hijab and intead I can invest more in face products than having a great haircut. So visiting a beauty salon always gets pushed a lower priority level whenever I have new needs using money.  From going to the beauty salon last month, I noticed that they actuall...

Day 1: Explain a concept you know well to a 12-year-old.

Salah can help reduce your depression.  Do you know what depression is? It's a mental disorder characterized by constant sadness, loss interest in activities, and low energy.  For me, it looks like staying in bed all day, having no energy or no interest to get up and do activities.  Your mind will also full of thoughts that make you feel empty, useless. You feel helpless.  I read research that found that depression hates a moving target. It means, if you actually get up, move, do something and get out of your 'depression spot', you can actually reduce your depression amount.  It makes sense for me, since at times when I feel down, I used to dance and it tremendously helped with my mental state.  Recently, I've been going to gym regularly and my mood has gotten really stable too.  Then what does it have to do with salah? As you know, salah is a prayer that is done 5 times a day.  It's a series of physical movement and recitation. The movement consi...

Day 1 - Describe your morning in exact detail (no opinions).

My morning would usually start when the call of prayer is calling.  I would usually wake up and go straight to take my ablution before praying subh and go back to sleep right after.  I'd describe what my morning ideally would look like when I am in Depok, as this one is my preffered typical morning routine.  I would wake up once again around 6 to start my day. I learned that the first few hours of one's morning could shape the entire day. If one does a productive, joyful morning, then most likely the rest of their day would follow.  Since I started to live in Depok again after I had resigned from my company, my morning is usually a slow morning, without having to rush to prepare myself to go to work. The first thing I do after I wake up is to get up and go outside the room. I'd sit at the dining table to drink a lukewarm water and get my eyes used to waking up. Then I'd search for any activity that I can acommplish quickly - this is to start creating the rythm of "...
